Second annual Russia-UNDP Partnership consultations took place in Moscow

On July 11, Moscow hosted the second annual consultations on Russia’s partnership with the UN Development Programme (UNDP) under the joint chairmanship of Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov and Director of UNDP’s Regional Bureau for Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States Cihan Sultanoglu.
The discussion was attended by representatives of Russian federal executive bodies, as well as business and research associations responsible for implementing the partnership. The participants exchanged views on various aspects of cooperation with the UNDP and discussed practical issues related to involving domestic experts in UNDP activities in the relevant countries, primarily Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
The participants in the consultations reaffirmed the interest of the sides in developing active cooperation. The consultations became an important step towards further expansion and regulation of the partnership.
The holding of annual consultations is envisaged by the Partnership Framework Agreement of January 23, 2015, in order to discuss the implementation of joint initiatives and prospects of future cooperation. Russia maintains strategic cooperation with the UNDP to help its partner countries, primarily in the CIS, reach the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
